They’ll sing “Come See about Me,” “Dancin’ in the Streets,” “Stop, in the Name of Love” and many others! The Arena floor is adorned with 300 beautifully decorated tables of 10. Come early and bring a picnic or ask us about catering. Doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets start at $18.

To Write Love on Her Arms Benefit

The “To Write Love on Her Arms” benefit event, dedicated to individuals dealing with depression, suicide, and self-injury will feature several bands including he Water Bears, the New Vagabonds, DAAO Dancing for a Cure, Christine Concepcion, All Else Fades, Attalia and possibly special appearances from American Idol Contestant Andrew Garcia and You Tube star AJ Rafael. Everyone is invited. Tickets are $5. All proceeds will go to the TWLOHA organization. Come and become part of the TWLOHA movement.

California State University, Long Beach’s annual Pow Wow, an American Indian social celebration, returns to the campus’ central quad. The largest spring event of its kind in Southern California, the Pow Wow at Cal State Long Beach is focused on displaying the university’s strong American Indian presence. Admission and parking are free.

“More Than Mrs. John Temple: The Life of Rafaela Cota” will be presented by historian Kathie Schey on March 20. Rafaela Cota de Temple, daughter of a prominent Spanish military family, was one of many elite women who were born in Colonial California, married Yankee newcomers following Mexican Independence and then remained in California following American annexation. These women left scant records of their lives and are often understood only as their husband’s wives. Thanks to a generous grant from the James Irvine and Rancho Los Cerritos Foundations, new research has shed important light on the remarkable life and times of Rafaela, the first mistress of Rancho Los Cerritos. $5 adults/$3 members and students

The LBMA will kick-off a year-long celebration of its 60th anniversary with four great exhibitions highlighting the early years of the institution. The event will feature an evening filled with food, drinks, music, live entertainment, and world-class art. The featured exhibitions will include a wide range of subjects, media, and artistic styles, ranging from large-scale sculpture, and abstract paintings to ceramics and Southern California landscapes. Over 100 extraordinary pieces of art created between 1948 and 1976 will be on display, resulting in a dynamic event filled with creativity and historical significance.
